The Healthy Eating Project.

The Jamie Lawrence Football Academy delivers a Healthy Eating Project aimed at challenging young people’s views on Healthy Living and Lifestyles.

The academy has put together a 4 week programme to address this. During this time, participants will assess their current state of health and fitness. They will also analyse their current diet and assess whether or not they are the right weight for their height. Fitness levels acceptable for their age will also be assessed.

By the end of the programme, we intend to change the attitude towards healthy eating.

Obesity in Children.

Obesity means having too much body fat. It is different from being overweight, which means weighing too much. Both terms mean that a person's weight is greater than what is considered healthy for his or her height. Children grow at different rates, so it isn't always easy to know when a child is obese or overweight. Ask your doctor to measure your child's height and weight to determine if he or she is in a healthy range.

If a weight-loss program is necessary, involve the whole family in healthy habits so your child doesn't feel singled out. You can encourage healthy eating by serving more fruits and vegetables and buying fewer sodas and high-calorie, high-fat snack foods. Physical activity can also help your child overcome obesity or being overweight. Kids need about 60 minutes each day.

Introduction.

This program will contribute towards the governments healthy life style targets and combat obesity.

A good diet is important for good health. A healthy and varied diet can help to maintain a healthy body weight, enhance general well being and reduce the risk of a number of diseases including heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis.

Many people have a low level of activity due to their lifestyle, excessively watching television, playing computer games and using automobiles for short journeys rather than walking, coupled with a poor diet. These are some of the factors that increase the risk of cancer and heart disease and other illness mentioned above.

By reverting back to more traditional social pastimes such as taking up a sport and encouraging healthy eating across the family we can reduce the risk of illness the program detailed below offers a comprehensive solution to poor diets and lifestyles.

We will also take a look at food groups and what makes a balanced diet. As illustrated below:

Food Groups
